A new way to surf your favourite websites - introducing Feedly

Not a big fan of social media? Want a combination of your favourite website articles in one easily accessible place? Introducing Feedly.

Introduction to Feedly

“Feedly is a news aggregator application for various web browsers and mobile devices running iOS and Android, also available as a cloud-based service. It compiles news feeds from a variety of online sources for the user to customize and share with others.”

In other words, Feedly uses RSS feeds which can be organised by category to create a magazine-like application. This allows the population of content from your favourite sites as soon as they are published.

Behind the Scenes uses an optimised RSS feed for Feedly, so you can easily add our site to your favourite site article/blog collection.

Features that make Feedly awesome

  • Feedly is free
  • Lets you “organise, read and share what matters to you”
  • Available on all major platforms which can be synchronised across platforms with their cloud-based service
  • Cool magazine-style browser

How to use Feedly

After creating and logging into your account, Feedly will automatically add a Feedly Mini Toolkit button on the bottom right of the browsing area. When you click on this, among other things, you’ll be able to add that page’s feed (if it has one) to your Feedly categories. If the page has no RSS feed, it will tell you so. You can also Import a feed from your home screen (right at the bottom of all the Choice and Featured Collections.

On the iOS and Android versions, you can add new feeds using the main menu bar on the left. Some websites might also have a Feedly button somewhere, which when pressed will automatically ask you whether you want to open it with Feedly.

Irrespective of what platform you used to add feeds, Feedly will synchronize them for you.

Share with your friends via Feedly

Have a website or any web content that uses RSS? Why not ask all your friends to install Feedly on their Smart Phones? Make a simple, easily accessible button with the following code in it:

http://cloud.feedly.com/#subscription/feed/http://www.your-site-here.com/feed/

and ask them to use it to connect your content to their Feedly account. Their Smart Phone will then automatically inform them when new content is available.

Conclusion

Feedly is an awesome feed aggregator and has served me with the same enjoyment as reading a favourite magazine on a Sunday morning. Also, remember to add Behind the Scenes to your Blogs section!
